Founded in Beirut in 2000 by Huda Baroudi and Maria Hibri, Bokja is a multidisciplinary design studio rooted in textile, craftsmanship, and storytelling. Born from the founders’ shared passion for antique furniture and historic fabrics, the studio began by reupholstering vintage pieces with textiles collected across the Middle East and along the Silk Road, developing the richly layered visual language that has become its signature. 

Working by hand from its Beirut atelier, Bokja brings together embroidery, patchwork, print, and found textiles through what the studio calls an “assemblage aesthetic.” Fragments of different origins, eras, and traditions are layered and reworked across clothing, furniture, and objects, transforming regional craft into something distinctly contemporary. The result is a vibrant, unconventional body of work where color, pattern, and texture become vehicles for cultural memory, individuality, and storytelling.
